To
make all of the citizens of Anson County aware of the measures that
lead to good health: educated abstinence, prevention, safety, and
promotion of a healthy lifestyle including exercise, good nutrition,
and immunizations. This process begins at birth and continues throughout
life making each individual more productive, thus, a Healthier Ansonian
|

- Chronic Disease/Cancer:
Elementary and Middle school initiative to teach children about
skin cancer and to develop their practice to wear sun block and
hats when outside.

Chronic
Disease/Asthma: Reduce the utilization of the Emergency Department
and related hospital admissions for pediatric asthma patients.

Chronic
Disease/Access to Health Care/Health Promotion/Infectious Disease:
Utilize the Parish Nurse and Health Ministries committee of
the Health Ansonians Task Force to reduce tobacco use, reduce
chronic disease rates to NC state averages, provide education
and coordinated health screenings, reduce health disparities,
promote healthy lifestyles, etc.

Injuries:
Reduce deaths caused by motor vehicle accidents

Access to
Health Care, Chronic Care, Chronic Disease, Injury, Oral Health,
Health Promotion (all of these relate to children): Increase
the number of children with health insurance, reduce the percent
of children who are overweight, reduce tooth decay in preschool
children, reduce the rate of substantiated maltreatment of children.

Infectious
Disease/STDs: Reduce the rate of gonorrhea and Chlamydia to
NC state averages

Health Promotion/Substance
Abuse: Reduce the use of alcohol, marijuana and related substances
in high school and middle school children.

Access to
Care/Health Promotion: Provide access to basic health screenings
to all Ansonians utilizing the Mobile Health Screening Clinic

- Parish
Nurse Program has 54 churches - one of the largest such programs
operating in North Carolina offering multiple initiatives in the
county
- Camp Summer
Breathe for children with pediatric asthma
- Mobile Health
Screening Clinic has ten permanent sites throughout the county;
screened over 6,000 in 2004
- Child health
Initiative with the Anson County Partnership for Children to reduce
the rate of preventable hospitalizations in young (0-3) children
- Safe Communities/Safe
Kids certification and the related programs and services incorporated
therein
