Beaufort/Hyde Healthy Carolinians is a community partnership dedicated
to improving our health, wellness safety and quality of life.

Chronic Disease/Diabetes and Obesity-Diabetes/Obesity Task
Force focusing on diabetes prevention, detection, and care and issues
surrounding obesity. This will focus on adults either at risk for
or diagnosed with diabetes.
Health Promotion/Physical Activity-Fitness and Nutrition
Councils created in Beaufort and Hyde Counties to promote physical
activity and Winner's Circle.
Mental Health-Our newest priority selected in May 2005.

1. Established a support group for parents of children
with Asthma
2. Established Winner's Circle in Beaufort and Hyde County Schools
3. Identified walking trails in Hyde County, developed and distributed
brochure to promote initiative
4. Developed faith based initiative to promote healthy lifestyles
and general health promotion in churches and other faith communities
5. Created a Vial of LIFE program in Beaufort and Hyde Counties
