- Nutrition/Diabetes/Hypertension:
Improve healthy eating by implementing the Winner's Circle program
at Local eating establishments.
- Overweight/Obesity:
Reduce the number of Duplin County citizens who are obese or overweight
by providing opportunities for physical activity and education
on making healthy food choices.
- Tobacco Use:
To eliminate tobacco use in Duplin County schools and at sponsored
events.
- Child Wellness:
Knowledge and access to health services for families with children
birth through age five.
- Oral Health:
Lobby for fluoride treatment of county water system

- Stairwell
Initiative to encourage use of stairs in multi-level buildings.
- Establish
marked walking trails and paths assessable to all Duplin County
citizens.
- Duplin County
schools participating in Winner's Circle program.
- Winner's
Circle Program to help restaurants identify healthy menu choices.

- Enhance existing
school tobacco use policy through 100% Tobacco Free Schools Initiative.
- Provide information
to parents of children birth through age five on the importance
of regular medical check-ups and immunizations.
- Provide Spanish
speaking parents of the importance of regular medical check-ups
and immunizations for children birth through age five.
- Sponsor a
School-Readiness Conference for English and Spanish speaking parents.
Conference will include information on child health, safety, nutrition
and socialization.
- Lobby county
commissioners retro-fit the county water system to dispense water
with fluoride.
- Seek grant
funds to assist with the expense of adding fluoride treatment
to the county water system.
