Training
Structure, Roles and Responsibilities
|
|
|
|
| The Office of Healthy
Carolinians/Health Education has a team of players that provides a
systems approach to training at three levels, state,
regional and county.
|
|
|
| The training coordinator
and community assessment educator have responsibilities that are specific
to their jobs but work together to develop statewide training
that builds knowledge and skills needed to engage in the Healthy Carolinians
process of assessment, planning, evaluation, partnership development,
community mobilization, and resource development.
|
|
|
| The Regional Healthy Carolinians/Health
Education Consultants work with the Training Coordinator to develop
the training component of their strategic plan, specific to their
region. Together, they determine the need for training, assess skill
level, develop learning opportunities, coordinate events and evaluate
their effectiveness. In addition, the Regional Consultants organize
networking events in their region to allow for cross-county sharing
of knowledge and ideas.
|
|
|
| Community members are
given the opportunity to participate in training by either serving
on advisory groups, being designated as a host
site for training, and/or becoming a Healthy Carolinians
Trainer/Mentor.
|
|
Advisory Groups
The advisory groups are made up of, "the experts",
representatives of Healthy Carolinian task forces, health departments,
training institutions, state programs, and researchers of community-based
practice. The advisory group is one way to of getting community
input into the planning process. They may include both those
involved in doing the work of as well as those doing research
or training on community-based health practice and partnership/coalition
development. They provide counsel and assist in making sure
training is relevant and reflective of the work done in local
communities. In order to give more people the opportunity to
serve and to share various experiences or insights, the same
people do not always participate on the advisory groups.
Host Site
In order to make training more accessible to local partnership,
an organization can decide to be a host site for training.
The site would be an official location for providing training
on the key components of Healthy Carolinians. The site may
be a local health department, hospital, cooperative extension,
community college, AHEC, etc.
Trainer/Mentor
Healthy Carolinians trainer/mentor is made up of individuals
that are willing and have the knowledge and skills needed
to train/advise on the Healthy Carolinians process. They are
preferably local Healthy Carolinians coordinators, task force
leaders, regional consultants, etc. In addition to sharing
their expertise, they may assist in identifying resources
needed to provide training or other resources.
